What’s so Funny?

So last night, I met up with my folks and brother downtown who just picked up my mom’s cousin from the airport. And, as Filipinos “roll”, we like to entertain and make sure that our guests get to see ALL of Toronto in the short amount of time that they have. As I said, right from the airport, they went to the CN Tower as the first major sight-seeing tour. As I waited for them, there was a “bagpipist” playing his heart away along the bridge to the Rogers Centre (aka Skydome). The Rogers Centre has funny sculptures of charicatures of would-be audience members. So I put two-and-two together. That’s my dry humour.

Smashing Magazine Photo Contest – cameo

SmashingMagazine.com is a really great site for designers as its articles continue to inspire and stir up the designers’ ideas (especially when s/he is in a rut — hence I’ve been there a few times…<cough!>). One of their posts had requested for submissions for a contest involving images of signage…any kind of signage: directional, buildings, obscure ones. It was quite an interesting contest and I thought, what tha heck! I’ll try. Although I didn’t end up winning, they had still used my submissions in three different categories (just click on the screen shots below). For networkability, it was nice to be included. And just for fun, here’s a link to all the others I had to narrow my selections down as we were only allowed to submit three: signs from mddphotography.

Thanks Smashing Magazine!
